![]() Last year, during the NFL season, I learned about the first and only fantasy football scholarship competition, GM Genius. Rookie Quarterback Ranks 7-14:ġ0.Many of you know that I coached youth sports for more than fifteen years coaching hundreds of young people throughout the years. To me, there is value in that possibility that trumps any of the odds for the rest of these guys. If he can somehow win that backup gig, he could START for the Cardinals Week One this year. And this brand new regime selected Clayton Tune. Reports are that Kyler Murray could miss half the season recovering from his knee injury. So we really are just looking for anyone who can get an opportunity to play at all at some point. Over the last 25 years, the best QB drafted in the third round is Russell Wilson. The hit rate for QBs after the first two rounds is pretty atrocious. He’s being drafted with the knowledge that Jared Goff is the starter in 2023 but Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts were also drafted knowing that Alex Smith and Carson Wentz were the starters too so that’s not the end of the world. With high end weapons that we also drafted. And he comes from a gimmicky offense where you only have to read half the field. He’s an older prospect that just tore his ACL in November. Everyone I talked to who was actually at the combine loved talking to this guy. Hooker is a bit of the opposite of Will Levis. But not before the first three guys are gone. ![]() Lord knows that Philip Rivers didn’t care much for “proper mechanics”. The thing is, Jay Cutler really didn’t fix his mechanical issues and he was STILL a fantasy-relevant QB just chucking it off his back foot for his whole career. Quite frankly, the whole situation reminds me of Jay Cutler. Will Levis reportedly has two issues - character concerns and mechanical issues. So Stroud needs to be at least third in the rankings and in a different tier from the rest of these guys. What we do know is that three QBs were drafted in the top four picks and the next one wasn’t even drafted in the first round. But we also don’t even know if that’s a metric that truly matters at the end of the day. Based on his reaction to the reported leaks, we can assume that it wasn’t good. We’re never going to know for sure what CJ Stroud’s S2 cognitive test actually was. Now he’s the first overall pick in the NFL and deserves our attention. And that includes playing at the most prestigious school in college football. Well, guess what? On every stage so far he’s knocked it out of the park. “The only knock on him is that he’s not that big”. Everyone has had the same exact take on this guy for seemingly his whole life. If you fall into the first camp, this is your pick. Give me the rushing upside of Anthony Richardson any day. Even the pick that proved to be “safest” in Mac Jones doesn’t feel that great right now. Think about Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, and Mac Jones. I tend to fall into the second category - especially in single QB leagues. The second is that, given the fluctuation and difficulty analyzing these guys, you might as well go for the most upside possible. The first is that the hit rate on QBs, even in the first round, is so shaky that you just want the guy who is most likely to actually start long term in the NFL. Without further ado, here are the top rookie wide receivers from the 2023 NFL Draft! Rookie Quarterback Ranks Top-6: 1. Let’s dive in and dissect the 2023 rookie class and rank these guys for your dynasty rookie drafts. Who has the most upside? Who is most likely to be a franchise QB? Who from the late rounds could actually get a shot. ![]() So far we’ve hit on the Dynasty Wide Receiver Rankings and Dynasty Running Back Rankings so it’s time to tackle the all-important quarterback position. The once forgotten position in fantasy football now commands our respect, just like it did in the 2023 NFL Draft when three of the first four picks were quarterbacks. In fact, even in single quarterback leagues, the mobile quarterbacks dominate the quarterback rankings and can change your fortune in any given season. Well, with the advent of Superflex leagues, it now might also be the most important position in fantasy football. There’s a reason that quarterbacks almost always win the MVP - we all agree that it’s the “most important position in football”.
